Friday Reflection

In our journal's, we were assigned to write a reflection on the water crisis we had at school and about the field trip we went to on Friday at the refugee camps

What struck me the most about the water shut off we had at school was that we couldn't use the bathroom so we needed to walk a long way in order to go to the bathroom. I couldn't imagine to hold it for a long time. But mostly it made me think of all the people in the world who don't have water to drink or even use like take a shower or to wash their clothes. It also made me think of other schools around the world that might not have bathrooms to use and we do. It made me feel sad and scared. I got a little scared because I thought that one day we will all run out of water and wouldn't have anything to drink. We nee to take care of our water more.

What struck me on the field trip to the refugee camp was to see how how many people are suffering from hunger and horrible diseases. Also that on every checkpoint where families cross, the guards will take anything they care about like their children and food. That was really sad to hear, imagine yourself crossing the checkpoint and they take your family away from you. Another thing was how 8 year old kids will carry with them like 3 - 5 gallons of water and walk for 8 miles or where they live.

The Doctors With Out Borders did a great job structuring the refugee camp. I think they did a great structure that I don't know what they should change. But maybe they should change the bathrooms and make them more secured. They should be more secured so that woman won't get raped while their doing the bathroom. They should have more security around the refugee camps with guards that are trust worthy and won't hurt or harm the women in the camps.

My Declaration of Independence

  1. 17 and older should have the right to drive
  2. We should all have equal rights
  3. 17 and older should have the right to go clubbing
  4. 16 and older should have the right to drink alcohol
  5. Everyone must finish their education till high school

Why Vote?

My response to this article was that if people don't want to vote then they don't have to vote. It is sad that people are being fined just for not voting. We should all have the freedom if we want to vote or not. It shouldn't be mandatory to vote. Voting is really important but if they don't want to then they don't have to.

Federalist 10

I didn't understand this reading at all. It was really confusing and it had many big words that I didn't know. I tried to understad it but I couldn't so I just finished reading it.

Natural Law Party

History
The Natural Law Party was founded in April 1992 to “bring the light of science into politics.” Its founders, a group of a dozen educators, businessmen, and lawyers, knew that field-tested solutions to America’s problems already existed but were being ignored by government, due primarily to the pervasive influence of special interests. The Party quickly qualified for the ballot in 32 states, fielded 128 candidates, and became the first party in history (after the Republicans and Democrats) to be granted “national party” status by the Federal Election Commission and to have its presidential candidate, Dr. John Hagelin, qualify for federal matching funds.
Slogan
“bring the light of science into politics.”
Platform
Health
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY is committed to ensuring a long and healthy life for every American. By bringing life into accord with natural law, the prevention-oriented health programs proposed by the Natural Law Party will significantly reduce disease and promote the health and vitality of all Americans. As our nation’s health improves, we can lift the massive burden of health care costs, thus freeing our nation's resources for greater progress and prosperity.
Economy
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY envisions a flourishing national economy in which no citizen suffers from unemployment, recession, runaway inflation, or any other economic hardship; in which America’s businesses are highly competitive in the international marketplace; in which the crippling national debt is reduced and eventually eliminated; and in which the tax burden is significantly decreased, enabling everyone to enjoy greater prosperity and a higher standard of living.
Crime and Rehabilitation
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY envisions an America free of crime, where all citizens live fully in accord with both natural law and national law; where people freely move on the streets without fear; and where Americans live and work together harmoniously for both their own fulfillment and the national good.
Education
THE SOLUTION TO ALL OUR NATIONAL PROBLEMS lies in proper education. The Natural Law Party advocates scientifically proven educational programs that can unfold the full creative potential of every student and produce ideal citizens capable of fulfilling their highest aspirations while contributing maximum to the progress of society. By harnessing America’s greatest resource -- the unlimited creativity of our 280 million citizens -- the Natural Law Party can bring fulfillment to education and ensure America’s competitiveness and continuing leadership in the family of nations.
Agriculture
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY ENVISIONS a time when American farmers will farm in full accord with the laws of nature, fully utilizing nature’s creativity to yield abundant, healthy food, while protecting the environment and ensuring a vigorous, diversified, sustainable agricultural economy.
Energy and Environment
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY will create a future in which renewable, nonpolluting, inexpensive energy is abundantly available, the air in our cities is pure and clean, and our rivers and lakes are free of pollution. We foresee a time when waste is efficiently managed; when the needless destruction of forests and species diversity has ceased; when there are many more parks, gardens, and fountains; when new jobs have been created to develop renewable energy sources, conserve energy, and protect the environment; and when global cooperation ends environmental threats to the future of humankind.
Strengthening Democracy
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY will create a future in which renewable, nonpolluting, inexpensive energy is abundantly available, the air in our cities is pure and clean, and our rivers and lakes are free of pollution. We foresee a time when waste is efficiently managed; when the needless destruction of forests and species diversity has ceased; when there are many more parks, gardens, and fountains; when new jobs have been created to develop renewable energy sources, conserve energy, and protect the environment; and when global cooperation ends environmental threats to the future of humankind.
Abortion
THE NATURAL LAW PARTY is committed to substantially reducing the number of abortions in America. However, the Natural Law Party holds that the best way to reduce abortions is through education -- not through legislation.
The Natural Law Party supports proven educational programs to bring individual and national life into harmony with natural law. These programs develop intelligence and creativity, improve moral reasoning, and promote far-sighted thinking and actions that do not create problems. Such education alone can produce the changes in behavior that will reduce unwanted pregnancies. Only the Natural Law Party’s strong educational approach, by changing attitudes and behaviors from the inside out, can offer prevention on a realistic basis.

John Hagelin
Their president is a researcher at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. As Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, a progressive policy think tank, Dr. Hagelin has successfully headed a nationwide effort to identify, scientifically verify and promote cost-effective solutions to critical social problems in the fields of crime, health care, education, economy, biotechnology, energy and the environment. He works closely with the U.S. Congress to implement these forward-looking, prevention-oriented solutions.

If you could register for any party, what would it be?

I don't know for what party I will register in. But I might be in an independent party, I'm not really sure. The most important issues to me are immigration, education, abortion, and how animals are treated. I think all these issues are important to everyone. Immigration is important because it is happening everyday and there is many illegal immigrants in the U.S. Some of them should have the right to stay in the U.S. Education is really important, without it we wouldn't be smart or have something to learn. Abortion is a big issue, my opinion on this issue is that it shouldn't happen because you are killing a human being. And lastly, the way animals are being treated. Animals these days have been getting treated really badly. Many of them are being tortured and poisoned by tests that companies put on them. My perfect party would be a party that doesn't hurt animals and would help education be better and improved. Also my party would help people from different countries come to the U.S. My party would be a nice party that is helpful and aware of all the issues that are happening.

Where do I see government in my day to day life?

I don't really see government in my day to day life. I only see government on televison, magazines, and in your class. But I don't just see govenment I also hear it from the radio and people around me. I rarely see government in my daily life.
